...and I didn't want to stop working on this House/Wilson fic last night to respond to comments or write up a memory because it took three months just to get back to the draft and I didn't want to jinx myself, so I figured I'd post one this morning--But let me go to the bank first, said I when I awoke, and then when I got back at 9:30 a.m. our doorknob broke so I had to go to the library for three hours until my dad got home and managed to jimmy the lock open with a credit card, which I didn't know he knew how to do, and then I had lunch, and then we had to make a brisket before it was too late to put it in the oven for tonight's dinner, and...

Ergo, catching up on Memoryfest tomorrow.

How're you?

Agh - sorry, are you around to talk about Coma Guy timing? If not, never mind...

I am here. You don't have AIM, I guess, but we can do LJ comments if that works for you.

I have Yahoo messenger...?

But I've already added an ETA to my fic. Here, let me cut and paste. Help! :)

ETA: Now I'm not sure about the timing for Son of Coma Guy - I took the ATM scene as being the day after, because of the length of time it would take for transport, surgery, prep and for the patient to recover enough for House to talk to him. Also because House either changed his clothes or put on a shirt and has spoken to his team in the duration, and there is no specific talk about 'today'. However, Wilson is clearly wearing the same outfit. I hope the timing is open enough that I can get away with it *facepalm*.

I think Wilson said "today" when he was talking to House at the ATM about how Tritter talked to the fellows. Lemme check the script. (And, your fic's up? Ooh.)

No, I may be taking it down again if I've stuffed the timing up too badly... grrr... (that was not at you!)

Mm, no, strike that last, no reference to the day. I thought the day was extremely long, since they left Atlantic City at night and did the surgery and then went home, and yet... the next time we saw them, it was dinnertime, so I figured it was a very late dinner. It was bright during the scene where House spoke to Kyle post-transplant, but watching carefully, the light's not coming from outside. So... I think my answer is *shrug* and I hope the timing is malleable because my own story definitely assumes that it all happened in one day.

Okay, bloody time is not a fixed construct and all. I know, I started reading your fic and was all 'uh-oh' about it. But if you think there's at least room for both interpretations I feel a bit better. I do feel that yours is the most 'obvious' one (particuarly given the clothing) and I may have to explain my version a bit. But the timing is fairly crucial in mine, so I don't really want to change it. Sigh.

Thanks again :)

I think the ideal time for that ATM meeting would be brunch rather than dinner, which just totally throws me off. I went for the same-day interpretation, which jives with Wilson's outfit, and you went for the day-after interpretation, which allows more room for everything that had to have happened in the meantime. Without watching the episode again right now (and I've seen it an embarrassing number of times), I think either is as likely as the other. You could include a note, but you've got support for what you've done I think.

You're welcome. Pleasure to be of assistance. And I definitely sympathize. It's why I've started doing that f-list beta thing. And nobody brought up the timing issue, so it must not matter too much. (Then again, nobody caught that I'd had Gabe in a 20-year coma at first instead of a ten-year one.)
